The Swedes

The Swedes are an offshoot of the band Canvas and present an opportunity for the members of Canvas to play some of their (and your) favourite tunes.

Comprising Troy Loakes (acoustic guitar/vocals), Ben Fuller (double bass/vocals) and Mark Elberg (guitar/vocals), The Swedes takes elements of Contemporary Pop, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Reggae, Folk, Funk & Soul, ad mixes them to present a classy, vibrant, fun (sometimes raucous) night's entertainment.

Troy and Mark met in the ski fields of Austria, spending a number of seasons alternating between Austria (St Anton), Denmark, Sweden, Greece, UK, and recently, Australia.

Engagements include, Wilpena Under The Stars (fundraiser for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, February 2001), Riverland Run, Rally & Rock (fundraiser for the Childhood Cancer Foundation, organised by the Vietnam Vetrans, March 2001), Robe Village Fair September 2000).

The Swedes also have regular bookings performing as Canvas trio, at Lasseters Hotel Casino, Alice Springs (October 1999, 2000, June 2001, June - July 2002).

With residencies at Adelaide venues; Hogs Breath Cafe, Glenelg & Mick O' Sheas Irish Pub, regular bookings at Ramsgate Hotel, Daniel O'Connel, Stirling Hotel and many weddings and birthday functions, The Swedes have experience performing for many different types of audiences.

Talking from experience, people from nine to ninety will, and have, enjoyed The Swedes.
